Hungarian State Opera will be the visiting opera house of Savonlinna Opera Festival 2011
Savonlinna Opera Festival has invited the Hungary State Opera to be the visiting opera house of 2011. On Monday 3rd May 2010 the General Directors Jan Hultin and Lajos Vass signed the contract at a function hosted by Ambassador Jari Vilen in the Embassy of Finland in Budapest.
To Savonlinna, the Hungarians will bring along Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlos and a performance consisting of two works: Zoltán Kodaly’s Psalmus Hungaricus and Béla Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle.
Don Carlos is a classic directed by András Mikón and it will be conducted by János Kovács. The performance consisting of two works will be directed by the Artistic Director of the State Opera Balázs Kavalik and it will be conducted by the Principal Conductor Ádám Fisher.
The State Opera’s visiting group consists of 216 people.
The performances will take place in the Olavinlinna castle 23-27 July 2011.
